2024 WINNER
Danny Codd has been announced as the winner of the inaugural Ares Design Award 2024 with his final year project The Lagoon city of Hull.
The competition format was left intentionally loose to encourage the widest possible range of entries. Danny’s project was chosen as it demonstrates the crucial role of Landscape Architecture to tell positive stories of the future.
His intent was to create a daring and revolutionary scheme transforming an ‘ordinary’ city into an exemplar for UK cities facing the impacts of climate change. We felt this was achieved, with his project showcasing great skill and knowledge across the discipline. It featured clear and concise brief development, thorough site analysis, and creative, comprehensive design responses. The work was presented beautifully, using a wide range of media and techniques to effectively communicate the vision.
Niloufer Shahapur has been selected as Runner Up for her project of rewilding the Mersey, a stunning concept.
