The fundamental principle of the site master plan was to reduce the impact of the dwelling on the landscape ensuring the site remained truly in keeping with its surroundings. To achieve this, it was proposed that the majority of the site would remain as functional hay meadow / paddock.
The dwelling ‘Level’ area was minimised and carefully positioned to ensure that these functional areas were efficient in size and where possible hidden from close view.
The transitional landscape zones linked the dwelling ‘platform’ area, with its associated domestic spaces with the surrounding landscape. The transitional spaces became exciting opportunities to work with and explore design expressions of the character ‘building blocks’
