Fairchilds Garden

Last week we celebrated the opening of Fairchilds Garden, a pocket park in Shoreditch, East London. This project has been on the drawing board in the London office for over 5 years, and has been a real labour of love for many of the team during that time.

There have been various hurdles to overcome that resulted in a rather protracted delivery, so we’re over the moon that its finally open for the public to enjoy, and boy, are we chuffed with the outcome! A disused tennis court gives way to a verdant social space, accessed via a new generous entrance, cast with the dappled shade of the canopies of the existing mature Planes.

The planting and  textures hark back to traditional English gardening of the 18th Century in celebration of Thomas Fairchild, the famed horticulturalist and nurseryman, but the overall outcome is a contemporary space, fitting of the local context.
