Work Place

LANCASHIRE CONSTABULARY DIVISIONAL HQ

Working With Mcbains Cooper and Willmott Dixon we oversaw the landscape design from Concept to Completion for the Lancashire Constabulary, West Division HQ in Blackpool.

Delivered as part of the Scape framework The new facility, located on a 10,000 square metre site on the outskirts of Blackpool close to the M55 motorway, comprises a three-storey building housing a 42-cell custody suite, public enquiry desk and associated offices and facilities for uniformed officers.

The external appearance of the building takes its cues from Blackpool and the vibrant seaside environment with the use of colour and form derived from the sea and sand. The internal central atrium space is known as the Promenade.

The landscape response reflected the character of the architecture but also importantly reponded to the specific operational requirements of the client.

The landscape creates an appropriatly civic and welcoming public facing setting, whilst also intergrating security requirements including Hostile Vehicle Mitigation.

The health and wellbeing of the staff is considered through the provision of extenal staff gardens and with generous new planting throughout the site.
